    How to kill 4 o'clocks

Put an ad on Craigslist for folks to come dig, dig, dig. And cut them this year before they go to seed, for as you know, they reseed like crazy. Lots of folks want them because of the heavenly fragrance. But you're right; they do take over.

    It's not my birthday...

Smart kid! That's great to get them started learning useful stuff that early.

    Carrot flower

Great! Got a bunch all around where I want to expand my gardens. I'll leave them, as I won't be saving carrot seeds, and they're pretty.

    It's not my birthday...

Yes, just bumping into them is nice. One easy thing I have done with my herbs that goes over well at a pot luck is to make deviled eggs. Then put a little snippet of an herb on top so that different eggs have different flavors; some rosemary, some sage, some thyme, some oregano; pretty much...

Hoodat, will the Queen Ann's Lace also attract those wasps?

    It's not my birthday...

That sounds like a handy c.book! I used to grow a lot of herbs, but found I didn't use them very much. Can't remember which herb goes with which foods.

Ideas For Selling On Consignment - Local Farm Stand

Yeah, you have what it takes. Just don't let it turn into so much that you start hating your hobby.

    Jalapenos with no bite

I'm glad to hear of these. I prefer mild peppers, but no matter what kind I grow, our Ga. heat makes them all killer hot. I was wondering how to tone them down.

    Jalapenos with no bite

I've read in an alternative med. publication that decaf can cause liver damage due to chemical used in processing. Can't vouch for that, but you may want to look into it.

    UPDATE: Argh!!! Children!!!

My father used to get so mad at trespassing deer hunters who climbed his barb wire fence like a ladder, which stretches and ruins it. They probably had gloves on. For kids it's easy enough to shimmy under or between strands. Now chainlink with razorwire on top looped like at prisons might just...

Ideas For Selling On Consignment - Local Farm Stand

Do whatever it takes to get established. I wouldn't go any lower than I had to, as it's always hard to make yourself go up in price when you know people are used to what you're now charging. The bartering for space is great; maybe when flowers aren't in bloom, you might have eggs or something...

    The Vine Borer Moth

My mother's approach with the squash vine borers was to just keep planting more squash all along to replace the plants hit, as the damage never killed the plants until they had produced a substantial amount of squash. Since squash is one of the fastest to produce plants in the garden, and she...

    How to store bell peppers?

You can dice and freeze, then make salsa, veg. soup, etc. when you have everything. You don't have to blanch them.

Tomato Blight Update from Rodale News

When I went to the part to look at pics. it said take infected plants to the landfill. Wouldn't it be better to burn them? Oh, maybe they're talking about a landfill where they burn. Ours doesn't anymore.

I like being as organic as possible, but........

Since my move, I'm still so disorganized it's hard for me to find anything, but I remember buying Jerry Baker gardening booklets long ago.. I'm thinking he sprayed with baking soda, maybe milk, or maybe tea. Seems like baking soda solution for this type thing. He has a lot of recipes, not...

    UPDATE: Argh!!! Children!!!

A deputy sheriff in my county said that without a No Trespassing sign he will come out and warn folks and tell to leave if called, and with the sign, you can press charges. That may vary according to location.

    UPDATE: Argh!!! Children!!!

I was a career middle school art teacher - You learn to do a lot of sleuthing. Shall I go into the time an 8th grade girl kept stealing the chocolate out of the cabinet in my office (when you mess with my chocolate stash, you've REALLY crossed the line!) Well, let's just say, ex-lax and...
