Yes, that's what I think it means. That's what I bought. Pickling Lime
(Still haven't done them yet.)
You know, what is the deal with pickling salt? I bought a box of it the other day and read the ingredients and it said "Salt"
:|
Well, is that SO, Mr. Wise Guy?
Cassandra
I may do that this weekend if this carries on. We are having fireworks and stuff Friday, but maybe Saturday night I can camp out. :)...
geeze, I hope I don't get eaten by a wombat.
Cassandra
Pat I is at work during the day!!! :th
LOL
I did check this morning and didn't notice anything obviously eaten. I have six vinegar rags around the raised bed the tomatoes are in. But I didn't exactly crawl around on the ground this morning in my work clothes. LOL I had picked everything that...
Not sure if it was day or night. It was either last night or today. LOL They were just like that when I got home this evening. I didn't see them this morning.
I'm going to go soak some rags to set out. I will update.
Cassandra (wondering if rats might've also been eating my onions)
What else could be eating these tomatoes?! :o
check this out. The one on the left has a HUGE bite taken out of it (or a bunch of little bites) the middle one has teeth marks and the one on the right has little holes--possibly from a worm? I haven't cut into it yet.
So, on several of the ones...
I guess that's true. I think I would want onions and garlic on the very outside. Maybe with three or four different kinds of potatoesjust inside of that (stuff that gets dug up)
Then, maybe carrots and one or two things the same size as carrots. With four rows on each block, seems like you...
I would NOT! :o
I was just wond'rin cause I thought it was odd.
When I was four, I was "helping" my mom hang clothes on the line and got stung by a bumble bee under my armpit! Had to go to the hospital. I was allergic at the time, but I'm not any more.
When I was about 10, my cousin (11) and...
I saw some bumble bees on my lima beans yesterday.
I have read that it is illegal to kill them. Is that true? It doesn't make any sense to me. I thought they were prolific!

Seems like you could put a rectangular block of corn in the middle space and build everything else around it, going in a mound from biggest (in the center) to smallest (around the edges.)
In my mind, it would give it a somewhat Aztec pyramid look, which would be COOL.
Just a thought. :)

I did a raised bed. Not so much square foot gardening. But I have one bed of tomatoes and they are really crammed in there. Some of them probably 8-10 inches apart. They are dripping with fruits. The most problem I have had is reaching them all. The ones in the middle... well, you know, there's...
When building my raised beds up in April, I used a garden soil that said it had enough fertilizer for three months. Well... in the middle of July, my three months will be up.
If you were going to buy one fertilizer (which is precisely what I'm going to do) for the following plants, what would...
I will let you know! Though I may have to go back in time to get a ten cent box of pickling spice. The last I bought was around three dollars!
Cassandra
I need to make some, also. I have the following ingredients:
Banana peppers
tomatoes
onions
bell peppers
lime juice
parsley (I really hate cilantro and refuse to put any in there. You can't make me!!! lol)
If you want to can it, how do you make sure it is acidic enough not to spoil? Or should...
I have many of the same questions you do!
I am in Mississippi and I believe we are supposed to plant it in January.
What I have done so far is to take some old scrap plywood and cover up the space I've designated as my future asparagusbed. I'm just going to leave that down until the...
