A member on a social site I belong to mentioned that Canadian sporting goods stores as far as eight hours north of the border are getting calls from US stores inquiring about purchasing their entire inventory. Not a good sign at all.
My ideal type of garden would be all food forest, but here in Indiana, can't get superhuman amounts of food out of my limited space. I don't till, cover with leaves/compost/cardboard. This is my third year, so almost a cycle of the main growing areas done, heavy feeder, potatoes, legumes...
Thanks for sharing that. I've been aiming for more cold resistant, shorter season crops. Didn't look at all of those, but purple dove seems to be speedy in that regard.
Tasted my first batch of tepary beans this evening. Took a long time to cook. Had with 'ham' and very earthy in flavor.

Came to TheEasyGarden because of the bean network link. I plan on doing a lot of beans next year, mostly pole. Still deciding which ones to get and grow out. Love to experiment, some of them looked pretty exciting. About four hours south of you, Bluejay.
I just concluded my second year garden with west central Indiana. I've been growing a large variety of things to determine what works best here, and with my lazy style of gardening. (No till, leaf mulch) This year's new successes were Trail of Tears beans, tepary beans (acquired from...
