HIDelight, I am just getting these back after 3 years. After growing them and them always staying true for 4years DH thought it would be a good thing for the chickens to be in the garden area all winter one year, the following...
I'm not sure it has to do with time in the ground as my plants aren't anywhere near harvest time. Just last week I got some small new potatoes and normally my plants stay in the ground until they dieback, which they aren't close to doing yet, once again I think this is because we have had such...
I read to harvest them when they are ripe and soft like a ripe tomato. There is some good info at growseed.org/potato
I'm going to give it a try and see what happens, once I got to looking I saw alot of the berries. :rainbow-sun
I have a beautiful clump of small brown mushrooms growing behind my goose water bucket, just found them Sunday. I wish I was knowledgeable, they look pretty yummy to me :drool I adore mushrooms.
Yep obsessed your right, I've got myself some TPS (true potato seed) I just did some googling :caf .
If I'm understanding what I read correctly, I now can let them dry and plant early next year then use the tuberlets as my seed potato????
I'm just a throw it in the ground and hope it grows...
I'm so glad someome asked this I keep forgetting to. I've never grown onions before so I had no clue, guess I'm off to cut the flowers off as I don't think I have bulbs yet. Thank you for the information :rainbow-sun
I only know that these are heirlooms, I wasn't real smart and I simply ordered "Heirloom Rainbow Variety" seeds so it is a surprise as to what will grow. I have never grown heirlooms before so I have no clue what is what :idunno. I'm just happy to see maters :weee

I got some new potatoes from my all blues last week. My cranberry reds and yukons aren't flowering quite yet as they are later varieties. I didn't get to hill as much because of wet weather but I do have them strawed pretty well, and as I have poked around they do seem to be developing.
FYI...
Hi Ron :frow
Well I'm not going to be much help as this is my first year with garlic also. My plants kept appearing to dry out badly (before all the rain) so that is why I mulched them. I planted in March and the plants have probably tripled in height. I really have no clue what to expect...
Hi Hattie :frow
Wish I could remember the name but I'm sure it is something common, I was very happy that they bloomed since I moved the poor things twice last fall!!

I've read that the first year you should pinch them back so they will put all their energy into root growth and not fruit production, sounded reasoniable to me so I'm giving it a shot. :rainbow-sun
I put in 50 plants this year and I am just pinching the flowers and not letting them berry, well ok maybe I let just a couple go so I could have a taste ;) I don't know if more needs to be done than that or not :idunno. Oh I also side dress with compost :rainbow-sun
The breakfast of champions :) Were the cloud formations as pretty down your way this morning? It was so gorgeous while having my coffee and strolling in the gardens and watering the chickens.
