Hattie, have i told you lately that i love you?
Thank you for doing so much research! I feel very helped! I can't look at the research right now since i'm expecting company, but i did have a few minutes to take leaf pictures.
Here you go!
Hope this helps. The leaves are very...
5 years later, i'm back.
possibly it is Asteraceae Hieracium gronovii L., queendevil hawkweed .
though it's not an exact match, but it's as close as i could come.
thanks to y'all i am accidentally learning how to do better searches on the usda website to narrow down what i'm looking for...
Don't worry. I have no intention of hurting it. But i want to know what it is so i can find out about herbal benefits. It has such an amazing smell, and the closed, dandelion looking buds make me want to eat it.
Thanks for the link. I'll be back in 5 years and let you know which one...

This plant is growing in a creek bed, and it's about 6 feet tall now (ish). When you rub your fingers on the stem they smell like Vick's Vapor Rub. It has a very distinct smell.
I've looked on the LBJ search, and i've looked for yellow asters, which didn't match.
Anyone recognize this?

I'm not an expert, by any stretch, but i do know that local chill hours can be the difference between a great peach tree and a wasted piece of real estate. The elegant lady requires 350-450 chill hours (or so i googled), so make sure your area fits.
Way to go on $10 fruit trees! I hope they...
