I'm not sure of the technical name for this berry; growing up, when they were still red we called them raspberries & when they turned dark purple we called them "black raspberries" altho I understand people also call them blackberries. They're the little knobbly berries with the thorny bushes...
Oh. So is this actually a :hit rather than a :ya ?
These little bumps are quite a ways off the ground; like, a few feet off the ground. (Some of these plants are up to my chin.) I didn't bury them real deep, just a couple of inches, maybe.
This watering business is driving me to drink (more)...
I was inspecting my tomatoes a few days ago & noticed that a couple of vines had these wierd little bumps on them (on the green vines, not the actual fruit). They're very small & line up one after the other, like peas in a pod. This morning I noticed that some of these bumps are turning whitish...
Hi BB, sorry for all the troubles...:(
For what it's worth, you're not alone. I've never had much luck with broccoli since I moved south. Peppers haven't done anything this year. Beans I had to plant twice. I got maybe 4 radishes out of the 20-30 seeds I planted. :/
Gardening is an emotional...
Thanks, ya'll! I spent an hour this morning (& almost passing out 4 times) mulching the 'maters, beans, & strawberrries. Sure hope it helps!! :fl
And I'm going to keep my eye out for the garden spikes...
Howdy experts! I think I may be seeing blossom end rot on a few of my 'maters. One website indicates one cause of this is low calcium in the soil, but I put oyster shell in each hole while transplanting (but who knows).
The other causes are supposed to be heat distress or over-watering. It has...
Thanks for posting the question, Smiles, I've wondered about this too. We eat a fair amount of red kidney, black, & Great Northern beans.
Also, thanks for the links, RR. For me, growing things are not so much about saving money or getting some kind of value vs. store bought; it's more about...
Go back & read your post "Amazing", nachoqtpie. Remember your euphoria when everything started sprouting? :D
Okay, here's the downside of gardening. ;)
I've tried growing broccoli 2 years now....pfffft. :(
Last year, my green peppers turned out okay. This year...pffft. :(
Radishes....pffft...
I do like lesa & Pat do. I'm too bug-phobic to NOT wash the lettuce first. :sick
At first I just held a couple of leaves over the sink & sprayed them with the hand-sprayer, then layer on paper towels, roll up, put in plastic bag, & keep in crisper drawer. They seem to last several days like...
At least your hubby shows some interest...mine points & asks "what are THOSE things??" (radishes, which he asked me to plant) & "which comes first, the cucumber or the pickle?" Good thing he's so cute...;)
