Welll, just finished another double batch! That gives me 22 half pints of jam, surely that is plenty for the two of us! The "problem" is, plants have just now started baring berries. lol Guess I will just freeze whole berries for pies this winter. Hopefully my mother will want some also. Any...
I just picked a gallon of strawberries and made my first jam! I think I will be doing that several times this week. Our 50 plants are putting out the berries. My mother and I both picked a pan today. We don't eat a lot of jam and jelly so will probably freeze some whole for pies this next winter.
Brings back memories!! When I was growing up we always spent Thanksgiving Day killing hogs! Our meal was fresh tenderloin! We made lard, sausage, and the whole 9 yards. My parents smoked the hams and shoulders a few weeks later and salt cured the bacon, sides, etc.. Nothing any better eating...
I have 8 rose bushes and they have black spot pretty bad. Today I fertilized them, then trimmed all bad leaves off and put into the burn pile. What is the next thing to do and the best regiment to follow to keep them healthy?
My DH just remodeled my old wheelbarrow last month, new handles, tire. It works like new. He has found old parts of another since we moved here and is making a flat cart out of it to move some wood, etc.
I love that Ridgerunner! AND YES, it has been the most unusual spring. I have tomatoes on the vine! We don't usually plant anything until after tax day and we had stuff out before first of April because of the 80 degree weather for two weeks before.
Most of my friends don't do gardens and don't...
Marshall! Need lots of money for all that! lol
Yes, I want more garden also but know my body doesn't always hold out to do what I have. The old half dozen discs in the spine bulging out of place makes for some painful days but I still want a few more rows of melons, etc. I haven't ventured...
I hope I have covered/uncovered my garden for the last time this year! We just had two more nights in the 30's and we covered to be sure we didn't lose anything else. I guess we have been pretty lucky in the five different times of having to cover with freezes and frosts that we only lost a...
Nothing new in my home garden today but we are planting our churches community garden this afternoon. This will be the third year of our community garden where we harvest and take to the local Good Samaritan Center for those in need. It doesn't last long once harvested. Today we will plant...
He told me that only a 4x4 post and heavy duty fencing would hold the huge plants up off the ground. I took him at his word and that is what we did. After soaking those lima seeds, some were as big as a quarter. I hope I do them justice! I will post pictures whenever!
Hey Muggins, is this going to do for those huge plants you tell me to expect???? We built this yesterday and I planted them this morning! I soaked them for two days and pealed them before planting as you said so am expecting great things from these seeds! The twenty seeds completely filled a...
