Yes! What is with that? I have little pumpkins that continue to fall off on the majority of my vines... I have probably 14 or 15 vines and only 4 pumpkins. Same thing is happening to my tomato and squash plants, too... the flowers just dry up and fall off the plant.

I think maybe we should have a secondary winner for the pumpkin with the most beak scars that survives! And for all that's right in the world, don't place your unofficial bets on me. It's already in the low 50s at night here... not excellent growing weather.

They look great... and I see your point about the big gaping holes. I had one of my pumpkins die yesterday, it had just stopped growing for about a week then rotted. Wonder what that's about? My "big" pumpkin though is still there, about the size of a small beachball now, and pretty much stopped...

Thanks for all the answers. I haven't planted anything in that area before... so it's weird to have them. I've had all kinds of bugs this year though that I never had before and lots of repeated bug disasters, too. This plant was not able to be saved. Mostly because I was fearing for my life...
