    Leaf from thorny tree

Steve, i love the SFA website. The professor who has that ecosystem site is very helpful to answer emails and help with identifications. But i try not to bother him too often. That's where i got started about a year ago, and it helped me understand why my area looks so different from so much...

    Leaf from thorny tree

Do you know what this is? It's from a small tree with large thorns. Very pretty tree. When i snapped the leaf off, it smelled sort of citrusy. It's still very very green even though the leaves are brown or on the ground from most of the deciduous trees around here. I thought it might be...

    Cooler Temps

I'm loving the cooler temps already. After a nice easy storm this morning, it got cool and stayed that way. Awesome. But it's not supposed to get anywhere near freezing here, which is even cooler (in the non-temperature sense of the word).

    Our first 'tilling'!

I love that you said you get to make your own dirt. I was thinking that the other day. It's so awesome to have a hand in the ecosystem and watch its progress. Don't give up yet! You have a little time to get that tiller. :hugs

Please give me links to help me i.d. my weeds!

Oh thank you everyone. Image galleries are helpful if you have a clue first. Hopefully this key from Lavender will help me have a clue. It's much easier to use than the other one i found. Thank you! I have been to that website a dozen times but never paid attention to the search function...

Please give me links to help me i.d. my weeds!

Thanks Beefy, I think i probably found a good one, but i'll need to finish my Ph.D. in botany to use it....o.k. maybe not, but it's a lot harder than the tree leaf keys. :hide Thanks for responding.

Please give me links to help me i.d. my weeds!

I asked this in the middle of a thread once, but i think it got lost. Some of you have links to weed/flower/herb online identification keys, and i can't seem to find them. I can find (partly thanks to y'all) the tree keys, but the weed keys are avoiding me. Help please????

Well, the Texas counties are sparse, but mine is happily included. It's a beautiful plant. I'll have to see if someone nearby has one. I know i haven't seen any here. How exciting!

A question for JOe - And anyone else who might know or want to learn.

I'm not sure what has given you the impression that i am going to coddle the mulberries and slaughter the palm trees. But that is not my intention. I cannot possibly slaughter all the mulberries, but i will wherever it is in my ability. If the palms have acclimated to a cooler climate...

A question for JOe - And anyone else who might know or want to learn.

The largest of these is exactly what is in the picture on the thread i linked to. There are dozens, but i've never seen them any larger. I don't think they naturally make it around here. That's just my thoughts right now. And they're not itty bitty. Those leaves are really really long. I...
