Taste is still something I am working on. I am buying a refractometer for sugar tests on the melons after the storage.

Temperature was around 65°-70° but I am a long way from having success. The stored melons lost a lot of taste when they were stored. This is my 4th year of growing and selecting. The seeds I selected for this year came from the most productive and shortest vining plants

In the book "Melons for the passionate grower" the author talks about the same growing techniques. It's a great reference book.

I love rescuing miniature roses from Walmart. They usually have 2 - 4 actual plants in the pots which breaks down to a $1 or $2 with the clearance price.

I rescued them from a Kmart clearance sale 2 years ago.

I have decided that this year I am going to grow my sweet corn in blocks of 4 because I just don't have enough seed to plant in conventional rows.

I grow 1 watermelon and 1 other melon and then I have a couple friends who let use some space in their gardens to grow other varieties. I have a watermelon melon left over from last year and we are going to cut it open and see how it fared.

I am planting Zola's rose ultra sweet corn. It's a new variety of open pollinated sweet corn that is red. I got the seed from J&L gardens. They mainly focus on tomatos but are branching out into other OP crops.
