I use the big tractor tires that I get for free from the local co-op. So far I have used them for Garlic, Chives, and walking onions and asparagus. The only thing that is not doing good is the asparagus and I think that is because I have it in a tractor-trailer tire instead of the big tractor...
This is what we did several years ago and it works very well. The squares are large enough to get your hand in and grab those juicy fruits and the wire is strong enough to support the heavy vines. You just have to help the plant along by carefully moving the branches as it grows.

I have been told that it is too much light to soon and I was told that if using something like miracle grow to feed the little plants to stop that there was enough stuff in the potting soil and it was not needed.
I do hope someone else comes on and gives more advice as I am getting ready to try...
I got 4 Amish past tomato plants last year and all 4 plants looked different. I did not like any of the tomatoes. Some were very long, some were round, some were very small and some were very large. I won't make that mistake again.
I ended up just using my Celebrities for my tomato sauce, just...
Well, you know what the eyes of the potatoes are right? Here is what I do. Cut the potatoes into chunks so that there is a eye in each chunk, sometimes there will be more than one eye.

Sred98 I did what you said and found a lot of info, I bookmarked the companion planting page in my garden section.
Thank you all so much for all this info.

My daughter asked me this question and the only thing I could think of is not to grow watermellons and cukes together.
I got a lot of heirloom varieties and know to keep the hot peppers away from the sweet ones.
I think her question was more of is it ok to...
Yes, as inchworm said it is hard to get what you want from hybrids LOL I used the term crossbred cause I raise goats, but it means the same. My buck is a crossbred goat Boer/Kiko and so far this year he has given me twins, a white kid (he is white) and a red head kid (moms are red heads) out of...
The only problem is that they may be crossbred. If so they may or may not produce the same tomato your son likes.
I would just wait till the plants come out in the stores and get them that way.
There is usually a good variety of small grape like tomatoes. Sweet 100's or Sweet 1,000's. There...
I know a lady that does this every year and claims they work great, but from what I have seen her fruits are very small compared to what I get from my garden.

You know I feed BOSS to my goats and sometimes a un-eaten seed winds up in the garden and we let it grow. Several have turned out ok, but we don't have enough garden to plant a lot.
