    I have gone crazy

If doing and making those things are your hobbies and passions, why not make money doing it? I don't think you are crazy. We could all use a little extra $ these days.

    Transplanting & Dividing Peonies

I'm so jealous! What a great "surprise." We can't grow Peonies here and I love them. I would wait until the recommended time, but I am generally a rule follower. Good luck.

"Semi-Dwarf Italian Plum Trees" -- Question about lack of fruit!

Most stone fruits need a specific number of chilling hours before they will flower and set fruit. Each variety has its own minimum. The majority of the varieties need a different variety to cross pollinate and set fruit, however some are self pollinating. If they are the exact same variety...

    WTB: Northern Hearty Kiwi?

I think most folks grow named varieties from grafts. I agree, Raintree Nursery is a good nursery to buy thing from. http://www.onegreenworld.com/ Has an extensive selection of Hardy Kiwis. They have a good online catalog.

    Cucumbers and Tomato Cages

I use tomato cages for my cucumbers. I love it and they work great. I plant one seeding near each wire that pokes in the ground. I use the re-bar cages for my tomatoes more often.

This ought to be a good one.....who is from BYC??

Hi, I migrated over from BYC. I usually go to Dave's Garden for plant stuff, but I like to see the familiar faces from BYC here, too. Gardening has been my real passion for 15 years. Chickens are a new hobby.

    putting fish heads under tomatos..

Yucky! but I could see the theory behind trying it. My dog would dig the plants up if I tried that! He goes around licking fish emulsion off things if I use it.

    shredded irises--again

I never agree with my dog about gardening either. I lay chicken wire around on the ground near things he damages regularly. Sometimes it keeps him away since he does not like the feel on his paws. I have also put tomato cages around things until they are big enough to handle more abuse...

    planting sweet potatoes

I had been told when we did it, to buy them from a farmer's market or buy organic ones at a natural food store. Some of the sweet potatoes in the regular grocery stores have been sprayed with something that inhibits growth so they have a longer shelf life. I don't know if it is accurate info...

I can tell the wisteria is absolutely goregous because it has a beautiful structure. What a shame to have to leave it behind. Oh how I wish I could have a yard that big! I don't fertilize my grass, just use a mulching mower. However, I'm sure I don't have the prettiest lawn in the...

Hi, I'm new from Southern California

I didn't know it either until finding an old thread on BYC referencing someones project. Our thread is there about it if you search "Trader Joes Kids." It was fun! and turned into a school science project.

    Dutch Iris...

A lot of Bearded iris only bloom for a few weeks each year, and usually in the spring. Look for one with a stalk coming up if you want to be sure to get flowers this year when you are buying in pots. If you search around you may be able to find a repeat bloomer, but most don't repeat. The...
