@heirloomgal, perhaps this story was originally about pea (Pisum). Every tale evolves over time, especially those passed down orally. At some point, after P. vulgaris was introduced to Europe, the pea may have turned into a bean.

Hi Jodie, I am afraid that if this bean was not signed when you received it, identification may be impossible. Not with 100% certainty. By the way, this bean is beautiful. Is it from Australia? I have never seen a similar bean seeds of this size with this coat pattern.

Weevils are mysterious and sneaky beasts. I once found them in a box of bean seeds that I grew in a third-floor apartment in the middle of the city. To this day I don't know where they came from. I doubt my neighbors grow beans indoors, I always thought they were serious people.

@Bluejay77, Most often I use regular paper glue. If I don't additionally cover the box with adhesive tape, I use a two-component glue, e.g. Poxipol. I don't know if you can buy it in the US, but I'm sure there is something similar.
