Last week we were living in a winter wonderland with -5*. We had the wood stove going and wearing layers to stay warm. Today the sun was out, snow almost gone, temp was 70* and I had the windows open wearing capris & sandals. Texas, gotta love it!
I grew Habanadas last year. They did really well here. Some were taller than my cattle panels, very bushy and loaded down. They kept producing till frost. I don't know what habaneros taste like, but these had a citrusy flavor. They were just small. They take a while to process.
Raked up some big piles of leaves today. DH helped me shred them when he got home. I have six 39 gallon bags of shredded leaves to put on the garden once it's all cleaned out. Still tons more to do once they all fall.
Thank you for the birthday wishes! The cake looks yummy, the song is hilarious and my garden is heading that way. I still have a few things growing and some things coming up. I have a new phone, so hope to be able to post pics again! Thank you again for the birthday wishes!! :hugs
Socks. I'm having trouble finding basic, white crew socks. Walmart used to have a large section, but now it's about half the size it was and most of the area is empty. I've been looking for about a month, and finally got me a package yesterday.
My Walmart has lids & jars, just not very many...
I planted my elephant garlic about a week ago. I pulled what was left of the okra and cleaned out the bed. That is when I noticed I already had 2 garlics already coming up from the corms I had missed last year.
Whoa! A lot has been going on since last I visited. Glad BJ got through surgery good and is now home and recovering. Praying pt goes well and rapid. It won't be long and he'll be out & about. :)
So Bee, how did your garden do this year?
Mine did pretty good. I thought I would have some of my stuff make it through the summer & into fall. Sadly, the rural electric co came through and sprayed the right of way. Some of the over spray killed off quite a bit. Trying to get some stuff for...
I dehydrated my sweet peppers last year. The few I still have left are still bright & colorful, red/orange/green/yellow.
I deseeded and chopped mine up, then blanched them before putting in the dehydrator. I put mine in canning jars and use my food saver to seal them.
I will be doing Jimmy...
Sooner or later everyone is going to either come into contact and get covid, or else take the vaccine if/when it becomes available. In the meantime, take the precautions that you feel you need to, but get on with life. We can't stay hold up in our homes for the next year or so waiting on a...
We have rain heading out way today. Will we get some? Who knows! Of course I have to be out this morning with a Rheumatolgist appt. I hate driving in the rain.
