Joint Assistant Deployment Extraction, Homeland Eradication (of) Local Militants (in) 2015. Due to the possibility of being on the so called "Red List", I have to say I'm a little concerned. I also have current military/veteran friends who are also concerned, which makes me think I'm not...
I have always heard Irises are hardy, which is probably why Granny asked me to take some... she knew I would have a hard time killing them, and they multiplied like rabbits around her place.
Thank you, ladies! Hopefully with your help I will have some pretty blooming irises next spring. Now I just have to have patience (which is not my strong point)!
Yay! I'm so glad I found this thread.... I just transplanted some of my Granny's irises and I was worried that I did it at the wrong time of the year, but God just laid it really heavily on my heart two weekends ago so I went with it. My granny practically raised me as her own, because we...
Hopefully @Ridgerunner will be okay with me quoting this post, because I'm not sure how to link it. I found this when I was searching earlier. I'm guessing this is the same system everyone is praising. It definitely looks like it's worth a try.
Seedlings have been planted (in between our big rains that we ARE NOT complaining about), and the chicks have finally feathered out and been moved outside to a transition coop. This means I now have a dining table again! My husband will be so excited to not have to eat dinner at the bar anymore...
Mother's Day? Wow.... it seems like your growing season is almost over before it gets started, lol. Our magic day is Tax Day! Maybe they think gardening will relieve the stress from the prior weeks/months.
I agree. I thought it was smushed, or half eaten, when I found it because it's head was sticking up like that. I've live out in the boondocks my entire life and have seen some funny looking bugs, but never one like this. Imagine my surprise when the thing started moving. :ep
So.... I went through the bug key and it led to cockroach too. I googled cockroach and came across a picture of an Oriental Roach, http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/roaches/oriental_cockroach.htm. I'm pretty sure this is it. Apparently it likes damp places and due to all the rain...
Can anyone tell me what this is? I'm not even going to offer up an opinion at this point, because I've tossed a few things around and they all sound off. Hopefully someone knows a little more than I do and it will be an easy one to identify. :idunno
Oh my goodness gracious. That would be awful! I'm sure a tiller, even a small one, could throw a rock out at a very high velocity. Ours' has a guard on the back so it isn't SUPPOSED to be able to spit things back at you, but only the Lord knows where that stuff is going. I won't let my kids...
I love reading through this, very interesting. And, I'm glad I'm not the only person that has tilled barefoot. My husband keeps telling me that I'm going to chop my foot off (a combination of overprotective and years of safety training ).
Maybe it'll hit him one of these days.:) My parents didn't garden (even though we had a cattle ranch with plenty of roomo_O). My grandpa did though and the grandkids always had a good time helping. And like you said, we enjoyed eating the vegetables a lot more than the normal grocery store...
I agree! The kids are having a blast, which makes it that much more enjoyable for me. They haven't really been interested in the past, but this year they aren't playing any summer sports so I actually had time to till a garden instead of just doing a few containers of my favorites. My husband...
Thank you, everyone, for all the great advice. My grandfather always planted all of his seeds directly in the garden, and he always had beautiful plants full of veggies. But I have a 12 year old son and a 7 year old daughter who were interested in helping in our garden this year so I started a...
Needing advice: What seeds grow better when started in pots/seed starters and which grow better when they are sown directly in the garden? And does either really matter with some plants?
