amanda,
What kind of quail do you have? I have Bobwhites, I would love to see pictures of your set-up. BYC has a lot of great information their on raising them.
Thanks journey! Oh the quails are addicted to those grapes, they sure eat them in a hurry! I had some today I find the grapes that stay on the vine longer will generally be sweeter and more flavorful. Got to enjoy them now before the season changes.
Thanks Everyone for the replies! :)
Yes, grapes are those kind of grapes where the quality and harvest is highly dependent on the weather. But I think its worth it to try grapes. Yep, that is a Fig tree next to the grapes. It doesn't produce any figs since its in a shady spot.
My grapes are all nice and ripe now. Hmmm... what should I do with them? I wanted to use them for wine making but not nearly enough or even to make grape jam from them. I'm just going to enjoy them the natural way right off the vine, I share some of my grapes with my quails and other birds. It...
Thanks guys for your replies!,
They are very helpful!
ninnymary,
Oh yes, that's not a problem to get them shipped there, I have a cousin who lives a house across from my property. So I'll end up shipping everything to her house, I don't think she minds packages being delivered to her house...
Thistlebloom,
That's not a problem to have them shipped to the other address, just to have them shipped on a certain day. I doubt they would ship the plants/trees on Thanksgiving since that is a holiday, Maybe I'll just have them shipped that Monday or Tuesday on Thanksgiving week. I'm not...
Hi Everyone :frow,
I wanted to ask everyone of their opinions with traveling with plants. I may be traveling with my family down south for Thanksgiving in a few months and I'm already thinking about ordering some new trees and plants online that you can't find in stores, to plant on the...
Cat,
Very nice Pumpkins you have there! I bet they'll look even better once they turn orange. Enjoy the jungle garden look, before you know it, Fall will be here ready to clean up the garden.
Keep us posted when they change color, I'm sure they will look great! ;)
Thanks desertlady! I actually don't have a clue what kind of pumpkin it is, since its a volunteer. I bet its a regular orange pumpkin, but still nice to have one in the garden. I wish I knew the variety of it.
Here's my pumpkin its still green at the moment. Can't wait to see it turn orange, Its actually a volunteer from last year. I'm glad I left this plant in the garden to grow, just goes to show you that it is worth it to let volunteers grow, never know what will come up.
Those are sweet potato...
Very Nice melons Cat!! :thumbsup I bet they tasted amazing.
I wish I had some melons from the garden, I do have some Watermelons and even they are a challenge to grow up north.
Sometimes they form little baby watermelons, rot and fall off the vine, Not sure why this happens?
Here is...
journey,
Is that a lotus I see in that picture?, they sure are amazing flowers. Unlike waterlilies their leaves don't float on the water. I think you could propagate them from seed but it does take a few years for the seed to develop into the plant.
Thank you for your suggestions! ;)
I ended up buying some at home depot a few weeks back. I just wanted to make sure they were a bronze color light and they are. They sure do look nice against the green of the bushes. As long as your happy with them that's all that matters.
Thank you again
Nice onions Cat!! Mine only got to the size of a golf ball. I'm going to leave them in the ground for harvest next year. They get larger the year after. I left a few of last years onions in the ground and had a few large onions this year. I rather wait than harvest them this small.
Wow Steve, nice cuke plants. Do you always let them run on the ground like that?, I wonder if they have more growth on them on the ground. I always have my cukes on a trellis. I guess you can say I prefer my cukes straight.
Hi vfem,
Thanks so much for replying!
Yes, My zip code is 27249 I'm in the Piedmont area, usually called the Triad. Its around 15 minutes away from Greensboro. I'll have to see if there are other hardy varieties other than "Arbequina", but if their isn't I'll try this variety. Yeah I would...
So far on my property in NC, I have planted a few fig trees, cherry trees, peach and nectarine. I've been thinking of something I've always wanted to grow but couldn't due to the climate here in NY. Olive trees, that would be very nice to have a few olive trees growing around the orchard but...
