Wish I could look at a 4 week old tomato plant & tell what it needed to be healthy.
I've heard people say they let the tomato plant tell them what it needed, but mine won't tell me anything.
I have a box of onion starts received from Dixondale's Farm this week.
Today I prepared my bed for texas supersweet onions. Rows are equally spaced 12" center to center in a 4' X 8' X 1' raised bed.
Can I get an ok to plant to onions tomorrow, or do I need to change something? Hope I'm not over...
My first time growing parsley.
Been studying care & growth cycle.
From what I've read it will grow leaves first year to be harvested.
Second year will not grow leaves, but will produce flowers then seed.
Guess that means I will have to plant parsley seeds again next year if I want leaves to...
Thinking I overlooked a detail in planting chive seed.
From what I have read chives need darkness & 60-70° F to germinate.
My temp was ok, but had them under grow light with the rest of the herbs.
Im assuming that's why seeds did not germinated in 15 days.
Seed pack says germination in 15-21...
I'm seeing online shouldn't grow cabbage, collards together. Is this true? It is same plant family. Or is it ok long as planted on opposite ends of raised apart with another crop in between?
Also, did I post correctly this time?
I really don't know how to use this forum, when it comes to using tags and quotes or the # signs in front of numbers. I've been on here less than a year. I could use some help from the ones that's been on here using this forum for years.
I thought I would eventually figure it out but have not...
My parsley seed packet reads, seeds sprout 21-28 days, faster if soak over night. I soaked 8 hrs.
The seeds I planted after soaking, some soaked over night at 95° on heat matt, some at room temp 72°. Seeds are sprouting out now in 7 days. I have some seeds I didn't soak that's not sprouted yet...
Im pretty sure im not the only one that have done this. But any recommendations on how to keep parsely seed 110°F for 24 hrs.
I have them on heat matt but 90° is the best I can do with that.
Thank you for any feedback.
Not really sure how to word this.
Just wondering if it's possible to rotate plant family crops from one bed to another each year, while succession planting same crops in each bed year after year.
Confusion?
Im thinking it's ok.
I'm back,
Haven't been on here in a while.
Looking for a rotation plan for my vegtables I will be growing I have listed. Or any suggestions on crops to add to my list. Still new to this but think I'm close. I'm keeping fruit crops in pots for now cause my tomatoes need evening shade from to...
Trying to come up with a 4'X8' three bed crop rotation plan, by plant family for next spring
Bed 1:

green beans
Bed 2:
cabage
collard greens
Lettuce
Bed 3:
Onions

I'm leaving the fruit crop out of rotation for now because only have three beds.

I harvested two times this summer, flowered again in August, will get a few more it looks like before frost.
Size of peppers are 1-1/2" X 1" now.
Estimated 1st frost in about 4-6 weeks. Been moving potted pepper plants from outside to inside garage when below 70° outside at night, move back...
Trying to learn about the Texas supersweet onion, and planting times. I believe it is a shortday which would be correct for my zone 7a. It can be planted from seeds or starts. I prefer seeds. Its also known as a 1015 onion.
I think the plant date is 10/15 in fall.
Maybe best results is fall...
Looks like my bell peppers are done growing. I have 25-30 bell peppers on each plant. The majority of the pepper's are 2-1/2" in diameter X 2-1/2" long. They are starting to turn orange it looks like. Their not getting any bigger cause so many I guess.
Maybe I should cut all but 12 off each...
Never grown or stored peas before.
Just wondering what to do with them as harvest gets closer. A lady in my area said they freeze well. I could remove from pods freeze them on cookie sheet, then bag. When taken out freezer thaw and they would taste same as if not frozen. She is aware you can't...
This is all the bell peppers I cut off my wind snapped pepper plant this morning. It had 51 bell peppers on one plant, not to mention all the flowers that was still on it & new buds still coming out.
Never seen so many bell peppers on one plant before.
This evening I was in the garden harvesting garlic that I planted last October.
At that time their's a chance of a thunder storm and high wind gust picking up. I looked over at my pepper plants that wasn't staked & two of them had snapped off. One 2" above the root ball & one in the root ball...
Trying out some green beans in a container first to see how they grow. Some started out good some didn't, but slowly coming back looking better.
I think I know whats going on here.
I will hold off on my thoughts to see if someone else comes out with the same thoughts.
