I bought a few Mighty Mato Grafted Watermelon plants this year. The variety I have is Sugar Baby and Moon & Stars. It's kind of an experiment to see how well the grafted plants will do, their suppose to have a higher yield and better disease resistance. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try a few...
Thanks guys for the replies! :)
Canesisters, Good to hear you enjoyed them, are the boothby's blonde cucumber a true white color or are they beige?
Steve,
I'll have to take a look at White Star Hybrid, although I prefer heirlooms. I hear you, I prefer fresh cucumbers to pickles, too.
Mike
Hi,
Has anyone tried growing white cucumbers before, if so which variety did you enjoy? I'm going to try some this year just not sure which variety to try.
Thanks!
Mike
My Malagueta seeds have sprouted, not bad in only 10 days. I had the seed trays in the boiler room it's nice and warm in there, perfect for germinating seeds. I now know for sure which variety is which, since none of the Friggitello came up all of the pepper seedling that did must be Malagueta.
Thanks guys for your help!
Maybe I'll plant more Friggitello seeds since I have extra of those, then use those plants to compare with. I planted all my Malagueta seeds already though. At least it's just these two that got mixed up, I can't imagine soon when I plant my maters getting 8 or 9...
I started planting some pepper seeds last night. I started 2 varieties, one is a hot pepper called Malagueta the other is a sweet frying pepper called Friggitello. I have one small issue, you know how important it is to keep labels on all seeds you plant to avoid confusion among the varieties...
I have used a potting mix made for African violets for starting my seeds, maybe I should switch to seed starter mix. I'm going to go ahead with that fungicide just to be on the safe side. I've tried many remedies before to control damping off, (cinnamon, bottom watering etc.) but it would be...
I've been looking for a fungicide to help prevent Damping Off when starting seeds indoors for years. I found a fungicide they have in Johnny's seeds called Rootshield Home & Garden. I'm thinking of trying it for this season, soon it will be time to start some seeds again. I always get damping...
:frow Thanks Steve for your reply!
Yes, Happy New Year to you as well. I been having problems with my old computer lately for months, that explains my disappearance. I now use an iPad to search the web.
I will have to keep that in mind with fungal diseases. Even if I can get a few crops of...
I saved lots of peach pits from last summer to see if I could get some of them to sprout and grow. I had the pits in fridge for a few months to give them the cold treatment to help with germination. Now I did crack the pits to make it easier for the seeds to sprout. I'm now waiting for the...
Happy 2014!!!!
I can't believe how fast this year went. I hope this new year will bring good things ahead for all of us. Can't wait for the next growing season to begin!
Here's to the New Year 2014 !!............... :woot
May we all have a drink or two. :thumbsup
I've heard of the sensitive plant too, but I haven't had one yet. It must be really cool to see the leaves move like that.
You should show it to some people, but don't tell them its a sensitive plant. It would be interesting to see their reaction when the leaves fold up!
Thanks for posting this! ;)
