I'm having a pretty good second year for my little garden. I've had some life issues, so I'm behind, but my growing season is long, so I will just mulch the tar out of everything and hopefully they'll make it through the hottest part of the summer.
This year I've noticed better soil quality...
Will this work? I have a whole big pile of neglected compost that has yet to compost, and was wondering could I use this in between rows to help control weeds? It's got wood shavings, kitchen scraps - which I can work around to aviod any rotten stuff being used - chicken poo, leaves, etc. I...
I haven't seen any flowers on it at all, but I really haven't paid too much attention to it, it's in the very back of our yard. I will keep an eye out an maybe if it flowers it will help to id it. I was hoping it was a nut tree of some kind. :fl
Thanks for all the input y'all!!!
I used peat moss and some pine bark mixed in real well where I planted the blue berries - so I think I will just try something different all together. Blackberries and grapes both look promising, so I'll be ordering tomorrow or Saturday! I'm excited!!
Thanks y'all!
I've tried growing blue berries, but my soil is not acidic enough... They died. :( Would blackberries or raspberries do better? What conditions do they like. What about grapes?
Thinking about it now, I do have some yogurt and cottage cheese containers that I have kept too - I've used those as the poor mans tupperware, but will sacrafice (sp?) them for the seeds!!!
I am looking for lots of opinions, even the ones that may not be what I want to hear. ;)
Maybe I'll start them in some used berries-from-the-store-came-in-these containers that I've saved for some reason...
I did see in another thread someone had used very similar cookie containers...
Thanks...
I'm going to do tomatoes, and peppers for sure, maybe eggplant and broccolli. I've actually been reading some other posts about starting seeds, I think I may have started a topic pre-maturly. :hide
I've got a long growing season, so I'll just be doing the ones that really could use a head start.
Ok, so I've never started seeds before, but I'm going to this year. I am going to use cardboard egg cartons. I was wondering though if I have to use a grow light, or if placing them in southern facing windows will be sufficient?
Any other first time seed starter advise would be great too...
The two females have both said "hello" (that's so cute!), but not the male, I talk to him and just sit with them. I guess I'm weird, because I love them and are thankful that they will give my family nurishment. So I like to make them as happy as I can, plus they are too cute not to snuggle...
Imagine my suprise when I logged in to check to see some answers for a question I had - and here these folks were going back and forth at each other. I told them to stop. I won't go back there if there is any more nasty-ness.
I value everyone's opinion, that is why I posted my question on a...
I'm south of Fort Worth, so probably a little far from you. I have been doing research and thinking about getting them for a while now. I called the feed store and they referred me to a guy who had been raising them, but with so much going on in his family, he wanted to get out of it. So I...
I am now gardening with rabbits!! Here they are...
The first two are does and the last is the buck. He hasn't been as active as the females, he does brighten up when I'm not around, so I'm just going to be keeping an eye on him. He's not eating very much, is that normal for being moved?
There is a copper head that has been living in our garage all summer. The first time I saw him I almost stepped on him with flip flops on. I have saved him from the machete a couple of times :hide . He's not agressive, so he gets to stay. Our mouse poplutaion is out of control :barnie ...
