I think your lucky! I planted several pepper plants and all I have left is one! LOL I believe a lil rabbit decided it liked them. I also have banana peppers and they are good and rabbit left them alone, it must have been something about the 'bell' hahaha

I have heard about dish soap as a bug spray many times and I have used it myself. I usually use dawn as I have seen it's power over pet fleas. It does a great job at keeping most at bay and it is safe to use on plants and animals.

It may be, the black part did not stink though the ground was not flooded by any means. The only thing in that would be the low oxygen, but how do you put oxygen into the ground?
