Ah yes. Have to watch that in some parts of the country. All the gardening books tell us to put lime on the soil. Better know your Ph before doing that! I lived where the ph was very high for years. Never add lime, even wood ashes can be really detrimental when you're already at 7 or more. Yet...
I think you're turning it too much but I could be wrong. I wait till mine cools down to turn it. Seems like if heating is good, then I need to allow it to heat without messing with it.

Aye yes, if you live where I do you don't want to put those ashes in the garden. Our soil is very alkaline. But they are great for letting the chickens dust bathe in! :D

When I saw this thread I figured every breed under the sun would be mentioned, and pretty much it has. Don't forget the mutts too. Some people have chickens that they've just let mix and mingle willy nilly and have come up...
All of the above is true unless it's "roundup ready" crops and the patent holder is Monsanto. In that case they will sue, and win. Even if you didn't want their stupid pollen on your land in the first place.
Stores rarely buy directly from a company but rather from a supplier. I'd bet that's what happened here and the supplier gave them outdated seeds. Since they normally don't carry seeds they didn't think to check, or that it might matter.
