Its possible deer will be an issue but my dogs usually scare them off before they do any damage.

I love my volunteers since I did not plant a garden this year. I got very excited seeing my first ripe tomato.

I have thrown squash in the compost . . . including yellow crook neck, zucchini, acorn, patty pans, butternut, spaghetti. . . pretty much every variety ended up in my compost last year from scraps and such. I also have a massive pile of tomato volunteers and a watermelon volunteer.

What kind of squash is this? Its a volunteer from my compost heap. This is the first fruit
