The one not in a bag is the sport. Here's another picture - https://flic.kr/p/otG2Ep - though it still doesn't do justice to the purple colors. Essentially, it looks a lot like your Prairie Patch, only in shades of purple and grey.
2017 sounds like a plan. We'll revisit it then! :)
Welp, it's been an awesome season so far -- and high time I clocked in to report. :D
My planting list this year, all pole beans, was:
Cherokee Trail of Tears
Swiss Landfrauen
Black & White Goose (from Bluejay77)
Blue Coco
Poletchka (from Bluejay77)
Leslie Tenderpod (from Bluejay77)
Logan Giant...
Sounds great!! I look forward to coaxing what I can out of them. :D
Think Massachussets, rather than NH, @Bluejay77 -- we're really only a few minutes from the Mass border. Even so, you're right, it's a bit early; but the oak trees were telling us the cold weather was done with (folk wisdom...
No luck so far on the Giant of Stuttgart, @Bluejay77 -- all the other beans are up, but not those. I did divvy the seeds for three plantings, though, so I'll put the second in the ground in a couple of days.
Mind you, all the other beans are up and cheering. We had two days of pouring rain...
Sooo... time to gather a little information. I know this has been talked about a bit before, but how do each of you plant/raise your beans? For the pole beans, single pole or teepee? How many plants per pole? For the bush ones, what spacing?
I know that different techniques work for different...
My beans came!
What a gorgeous assortment, and a Russ Crow original in there, too! Thank you so much... I'm just going to go work in the garden a little now, to tide me over to planting time. :weee
Giant of Stuttgart sounds awesome -- and a perfect match for my bean patch. Can't wait!
No package yet, but I wouldn't worry for another day or so. I've been finding that the mail has been a bit slow lately.
Woot! The new thread is up! :D
If you're already including one from the African collection with the others we've talked about, Bluejay77, then we're good to go. Let me know if there's anything else you need from me!
Can't wait for the growing season to start....
Tramped around in the gradually receding snow to have fun guessing which perennial veggies will come out of dormancy first. :D
In the basement starter corner, thinned the tomatoes and nudged the pepper seeds to a warmer spot.
Thanks, so lucky!
A little catch-up, as part of getting acquainted. :D
I'm actually much newer to veggie gardening than I tend to remember, with my garden just about to enter its fourth year. (Gosh, how much one learns...) My general focus is on traditional kitchen gardening, but beans, well...
