I've got loads of cherries dangling from trees now and they're nice and plump. Dark red, almost black...
How do I know when they're ripe, how do I collect them and what recipes can I use with them without a pressure canner?
Thanks in advance guys :D You're lifesavers.
I spent an hour and a half picking berries and only got a small tupperware container... like the condiment size. Then again, I had two toddlers in tow.
Some aren't ripe yet. I'm going to wait another week and pick some more. Right now, I'm just freezing them. Figure I can use them for...
Well what the heck?! Move that 75 acres over here and we can swap farm goodies.... PLEASEEEEEEEE :bouquet
I get to pick up the buff orps in the morning, I'm soooo stoked :D
Thanks Pat :) You always come threw. I think I'll cut some of the area short for the goat pen and extend it the other way down the logging road. These bushes are all the underbrush and they're thick. I don't want to lose all of them, so I'll try and fence off as much as I can.
Thanks for...
Man... I tasted them and they tasted just like blueberries to me, which is why I let the boys eat the ones they picked off the bush.
We've got LOADS of them... at least 3/4 of an acre is covered in these bushes. But I think it'd take forever to gather enough for any edible amount. LOL
Updated photo... How much larger do they get and when do we harvest them? I can't remember if anyone mentioned that previously. They're weighing the poor tree down and have almost knocked me out from falling on me.
Here's an updated photo of what the fruits look like. Are we still set on choke cherry? And what the heck do I do with all of them now? I've got at least a dozen... or more here...
