question? Do you need a lawn in front. Why not take some of those perennials and put them in front. You could make it a edible entry. Thats just my two cents.. I have done lawn care for to many years and see a lot of wasted space that people just don't use, yet put a lot of time and money...
I have benn toying with the same idea for a while now. I just got a sunset magazine october issue. In it they have an article "Urban farmer for hire". He charges $50 consultation, 750 installation,25 weekly maintenance which includes a harvest box. I guess he rides his bike it sounds like...

corn, bean, squash is a great combo so i hear. if your planting in a plot, the 3 can to up room. if you make a bed wider. say 4-5 ft. by 10-20 ft then you can do a corn patch next to a bean patch and a squash patch. supposedly the roots still help each other and you can still plant close...
yea you probably want to wait at fall and use the summer to figure what you want. You might try a forest garden whith edible fruits and bushes. (Permaculture). check out the site path to freedom. they live in cali. on a city plot but grow almost everything they need to eat. good luck to ya.:)
i do not have bunny's but in the book Gaia's Garden a guide to home scale permaculture, it talks about putting a rabbit hutch above a worm bin. You put the worm litter in the bottom. the manure urine and food scapes will fall in. once this bin is full, ad 1-300 hundred worms and cover it...
