Albertson's grocery store is running a promotion on chicken leg quarters untill Tuesday for $0.49/lb. My wife picked up 3, 10 lb packages .

Commercially raised chicken.... Not my choice of chicken but it sounds like a good deal for folks who like that sort of thing.

Commercially raised chicken.... Even if they were offering it for $.05 a lb, I'd not have make a trip to town to buy any of it.

When we lived in the country, I raised chickens by the dozens annually for most of my life. The BEST meat producers and most ECONOMICAL as well as the BEST TASTEING chickens to raise were the Cornish X. Bar NONE !!! When one now lives in town one's options in raising chickens ARE quite limited . We purchased a couple "organically grown " meat chickens a couple weeks ago at a rip off price at the farmers market's first of the year opening ... they had an off taste and were tough. So off to Albertson's I go . $0.49 / lb. is the lowest price that I have seen in years.

The best tasting chickens I've ever eaten were my White Rocks that had been feeding almost entirely on forage this past fall. I was amazed and I've been eating my own chickens for nigh on 40 yrs now.

That's a good price bobm. I made a pot of chicken mole' 2 days ago and there's just enough for lunch tomorrow.
