The Mayors is giving 150 million for a face lift of Hunts Point Market. Most of the city's food goes though this market. The best part Mayor's plan also includes dedicated space to link metropolitan area to the states growers forming a partnership with upstate farms. More local food will now be available to NYC people.

Great idea. Mayor had better worry as he may get impeached for doing something positive.

In our town, the local farmers' market has everything but the kitchen sink EXCEPT for cut flowers but nothing edible . Why do they call it "Farmer's Market when there is NO edibles offered ? :hu

Your area may have restrictions that make it hard to sell real food. I go to one market where the farms are inspected by the market manager. She told me farmers are the worst scumbags. That she found some were buying the produce and calling it local. Many people assume it is local and fresh and organic. I could tell which ones were lying by the look of the produce and when they were selling particular foods. I listened to their marketing talk and could hear them trying not to lie but avoiding the truth.

@catjac1975 Actually do they farm or are they marketers? Here the farm markets are attended by hobbiests that grow some in garden but buy most-just like Walmart.....

People are people. Good, bad, or whatever.
