have talked with a few members since alex's passing, and how i was planning of changing a few things...

original my plan was to do a tomato called "phoenix" which produces nice large mators. f1 seed bred for the south..

a couple have suggested that we do the new yorker tomato again, now some of us had a rather hard time growing them, others<northerners found it easy>...

this is what i was going to switch up, alex sent a few of a us a packet of bell pepper seeds called "yankee"
from johnnys seeds they are a op type a few years back and they produce some rather impressive bells. and everybody can grow bell peppers.....

still working on the rules basically the same.... now for the kicker.. originally i said a 50.00 card...
this is what i would like to do going to bump the debit card to 100.00 and the winner will have the choice of what animal shelter/rescue the debit card goes too in memory of alex..

so have set up a poll on which direction everyone wants to go

Count me in Major, I voted for Bells, but will roll with Tomatoes if that's what everyone wants to do.

Really?
I can grow hots, but my record with bells isn't very good.

I'll happily join in with whatever gets decided on. :)

I agree....couldn't grow those NYers and haven't grown a decent bell pepper since '08. But, I have the NY seed, so I'll be growing that again just in memory of Alex. I'll likely try to grow one or two of those each year if I can get at least one to mature for seed each year.

Just like having a bit of his nature growing in my garden....might even wear my huge garden hat when I tend to them. :D

I voted for Yankee Bell. I bought seeds last year from Johnny's when Major recommended these and the Highlander were really excellent. I posted Feb. 18, 2018 about the Yankee Bell and Nyboy said to me "Rabbits last year I sent Major and seedcorn Yankee peppers. I was so happy to find a seed with yankee in the name"
