The predatory wasps and syrphid flies have been doing such a great job keeping my garden whitefly and aphid free that I thought it was time to pay them back. They are so small that they sometimes have trouble getting nectar out of most flowers so I went down to my local nursery and bought two one gallon yarrow plants for them. I'll also let some of my carrots flower. That's another favorite of theirs. I might get some Queen Anne's lace for them next year to round out their diet. I know it's a pesky weed in some parts of the country but I don't think it will spread too much here in San Diego. I've never seen it wild here. Besides, it's purty.

I think I have that weed. I let some weeds grow.Shoot I even PLANTED some like my stinging nettle. I plant for the beneficials too.

I know the wasp, but need to look up that fly. I read there is a wasp or fly that will kill the jap bettle, but it is not on the market yet.I am hoping their controls escape and spread my way, because I have a serious jap beetle infestation.

I seemed to have lucked out with the wasps this year... again! I'm wondering what I am planting they love so much that they are here again by the droves. So many different kinds of wasps too (and hornets I'm afraid).

I found some squash bugs eggs, and offed them by hand, but not a squash bug in sight? I haven't found a horned caterpillar either on the tomatoes, I had aphids on my coneflowers and rose one day, and then in about a week they were ALL done never to return?!

So pardon my happy dance....
