The most amazing thing just happened!

A tenant came out to pay July's rent and asked if she could pull some of my weeds. She and her son pulled about a fourth of the weeds (yes, I have plenty of weeds) in the front bed, then asked me how much I wanted for them.

It seems she considers it a great treat boiled or fried with a bit of fat.

I told her she could repay me by stopping out twice next week and pulling more weeds. Imagine!

I guess I'll have to give the plant a taste test myself. I know I can grow them with absolutely no work at all.

I did ask what she called it, but really didn't understand exactly. Sounded like the start of HOT in Spanish: Calient...something. I asked if the greens had a hot taste but was told no.

Hummm. We do have a large hispanic population in this area. Suppose I can open a "U-pick it" stand for weed removal?

Wow, the deal of the century! Just picking them was good enough but wanting to pay you for them is beyond our imaginations.

I have a big lambs quarters bush in my garden. When it goes to seed, i'll scatter the seeds in the pastures.

How cool that you are growing free food in your beds. Now all you need to do is pick and cook some.
