I've been planning to do my major garden planting this Saturday. Rotmore is down and 'resting'. Everything that started indoors has been hardening off in fits and starts for almost 2 weeks - outside full time on the covered porch for 3 days now.
Then, I see that it's supposed to rain all day Friday.

Would it be better to plan to plant in 'mud' on Sat? To do it tonight and let them be in the ground for the storms? Or wait till sometime next week and hope for better timing?
Common sense says wait till next week... but maybe it would be better to get them in and let them get a GOOD soaking right off the bat???????
:hu

Probably stressing way too much...

Are you past your last frost date already? In 6B here, I'm waiting for mid-May to plant most things, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

From the type of storms they say that line is producing, you might be better off to wait so they don't get pulverized by heavy rain. It may fizzle out before it gets to you though. I think you may be on the early side for planting, so you probably have time to wait it out.

I didn't even think about the rain coming and I just transplanted some banana peppers into my new raised bed.

I wish I had checked the weather (or here) before I did my transplanting.

I'd play it safe and wait until next week.

Going from a covered porch to pouring rain, sounds like a disaster to me. I would wait..

So sorry your plans got derailed. What everybody else said, wait till next week. Take a rainy day off and curl up with hot tea and a good book or your computer!

Oh hey Major, that's good news!! The way the weather people were talking we were going to get swamped - of course they are a bunch of drama queens. I just might be able to get these little guys off the porch before next weekend.
See, part of the hurry is that the covered porch that is currently serving as the plant nursery is where the dogs usually hang out when it rains. (Wouldn't want the poor little beasties to have to actually go INSIDE the dog house). So I've got protected baby plants - and soggy wet dogs. I guess they're due for a bath anyway..

Hard to wait......when the itch is so strong, huh? Sometimes, though, "jumping the string" can turn into a "do over"........
