Hi,
I have spring flower bulbs that are starting to pop up everywhere in the garden. I was just wondering if I should mix in some flower fertilizer for the bulbs, is it really necessary? Usually I give them bonemeal in the Fall. I'm going to put some mulch around the flowers and wanted to see if I should add any fertilizer before the mulch goes on.

Thank You!

They gain their strength for the following year from the foliage like a solar collector. A little fertilizer in spring should add to the strength of the bulb for the following year.

Thanks catjac1975 ! ;)

Ok, So I might as well just give them bonemeal them in the fall since anything I put down now will be for next year. I rather not use fertilizer that's why I use bonemeal and good compost/ top soil.
