Finally posting a pic of my bus stop from Craigslist (for 100.00)! It has been buried in the ground since that pic, so it is all flush and level. I am planning on replacing those panels with glass and putting in one door. I was thinking of painting the north wall black, maybe putting a few small windows on top, just for light and ventilation. I would appreciate any suggestions you all might have. The actual glass replacement will probably wait till spring- so I have "planning" time! Thanks!

You know, Lesa . . .

I remember when you posted about this craigslist score. That is the coolest idea for a greenhouse. I haven't passed a bus stop since when I didn't think about it!

Not real suggestions, just an idea. I think digitS' is right it will work just fine as is. But if you really want to mess around with the roof and you are going to remove the plexiglass ( the side panels are plexiglass?) you might consider using them for the roof. They might clean up reasonably well and would let in more light than the existing roof. :)

Oh and you have to have a sign. Hmmm...plant crossing, you know like pedestrian crossing? That idea needs work.

Wow what a brilliant idea, look forward to seeing pictures when you've got your plants in their.

Hope you don't wake up one morning to find a group of people waiting for the next bus :gig

Warthog, smarty pants Dh, keeps asking for the bus schedule! I am hoping it will look more like a greenhouse and less like a bus stop, as we progress. Maybe? I think I will put up some lattice or something on the outside of the North side and grow something on there-to soften it up a bit. I hope the roof is not going to be a problem. Some of these issues just aren't going to be sorted out, until we try it. I expect quite a learning curve. I am so in love with my cold frames- I hope I will feel the same about this.

If you have good success with your cold frames, you will find this easy peasy, Lesa!

The volume of the air is so much greater. The cold frame takes about twice as much attention - assuming there is no automation to either.

Wow, what a great idea to turn a bus stop into a green house. I would never have thought of that. I have an untrained garden eye though.

Don't give up on craigslist. I check mine everyday- and a few times a year I find something fabulous!
The thing I am not understanding about greenhouse vs cold frame, is the hardening off part. Do I need to treat the plants, like they have been in the house? Obviously, the cold frame plants are automatically hardened off- but not so in the greenhouse, right?
