Nearly there.

The gardens are now producing all the green beans, sweet corn, big ripe tomatoes, and cool cucumbers that I can eat.

All the early sweet tidbits and the health sustaining veggies were leading up to this fresh every year moment.

It's only been in the last dozen years that melons have been added to my peak of the season list. Gardening never tasted so good ...

Soon we will be joining you. Kale, zucchini and cucumbers in overdrive already. Tomatoes soon. :)

Steve, I'm glad you have been able to get some green beans in spite of Benjamin Bunny's help.
My bush beans got bitten off as soon as a new leaf appeared. Rabbits have eaten all the leaves off the lower branches of the pole beans, as well as each new bean I planted to try to make up for the sparseness of the grouping around each pole. We have only gotten one meal of beans from the garden. (I have used blood meal repeatedly, and extra fencing, but apparently the bunnies like the taste of blood meal, and run right through the fence.) I'm not impressed with the Fortex beans anymore, as they just aren't growing at this time. Lots of blooms, though.
But 'maters and cukes, I have plenty of. And those Marconi peppers are beginning to ripen.
I still am getting enough kale to use in the daily smoothies, with the addition of a few sweet potato leaves.

That's sounds wonderful Steve. :)
I'm so jealous! I've been eating ripe cherry tomatoes for a few weeks, but the others are still green as grass. The kids purple podded beans are ready, and one of the families had us over for dinner and served them. They were great! I may have to go out there and "help" them pick....
The kids sugar snap peas are still putting on a few blooms and making a pod or two, but just enough for a little snack, and they would never forgive me for my help with them.

Speaking of bunnies, I've been seeing a snowshoe hare on the lawn for the past few weeks. I hope he doesn't discover the garden.

@so lucky, your blood meal experience reminded me of my use of it as a repellent
years ago. I used to turn the horses and dh's mule out in the fenced acre of yard we had. Instead of limiting themselves to the grasses and weeds they started nibbling on the new growth of my purchased and carefully planted pine trees. :rant

I figured I'd give them a surprise the next time I gave them the privilege and I sprinkled blood meal on all the tips of the branches. It didn't even slow them down!
They seemed to think I had just seasoned their snack.

edited to correct my peas to beans

Had my first (three) green beans out in the garden this morning. Nothing like it! Tomatoes are starting to ripen -- mostly the cherry types, but yum, anything is good right now.

Rereading that first post, I realized that it may have sounded like I've got ripe melons, too.

That's the "nearly." I figure about 1 more week :). There is a plant right in the middle of the melon patch that has that serious look of senescence. I won't wade in there without a more careful look at the stem and the first leaf. I think I can get close enough from inside the last row of the sweetcorn, without stepping on any vines ...

Oh, and the big tomatoes: only a very few have ripened and none of some varieties. I've got a bushel of cherries and that is nothing to take lightly but the big slicers are pretty special, yes?

Wow..nice big melons!
I guess this was the year to grow them outdoors, with all the heat we've been getting. Usually we can only grow them in a greenhouse.

I am so jealous Steve. Diplomat didn't do anything. Vine looks like it's dying but still has blooms that don't do anything.
