No, I'm not doing that, but it sure looks intresting. That would definately eliminate the need for weed eating the fence row!

well, you can sort of say i am going to do this. i was thinking of where to put my grape trellis and at the same time thought i wanted a fence to define the yard/garden area. then i thought why not use the trellis as the fence? when the grapes are large enough they will fill out and make a nice living fence. :p

That is how they often made fence rows "back in the old days". They are prickly too. Osage orange trees used to be very common for this reason. Wish we could find them more now because they are one of the highest rated BTUs for burning in the woodstove.

In Oklahoma the dang things are everywhere. They burn for a long time but they're hard to get started.
They make long lasting fence posts though. Just be sure to staple the wire to them while they're still green. Once they get dry they're hard to get a staple into.
