I'm in a rural area and do not have acess to high speed. Doomed to a world of dialup and reading.
No disrespect but it is a little frustrating when everyone posts links leading to a video without any sort of simple summary of what they are posting.
Kinda like sitting across the aisle and trying to take part in the conversation but everyone else is talking in whispers.
There. I've had my "poor me" rant. :rant Eventually I (for the most part) figure out what the video was about by following the resulting discussion. It just precludes me from joining the conversation on the "ground floor" so to speak. :duc

I feel your pain lighthawk ;). We too only had dialup until two years ago when we upgraded to wildblue satellite. We just have the basic service, so some things still take a bit to load, but it's way less frustrating than dialup was.

If my new thread triggered your rant, I added a description for you ;)
You're a sweetheart.
I think I have already gotten the jist of that vid.
Funny that I have never seen the topic come up before as I'm sure there must be others that share my dilemna.
Sad thing is that I am certain that I am missing out on a wealth of humor that has to be viewed to be appreciated. Some things you just CAN'T describe. :he

I feel your pain Hawk. I too have very slow dial up. Can't afford satellite right now. The price we pay to live in the boonies. I think it is worth it. I can deal much easier with slow internet than I could having people on all sides of me.

Green Acres is the place to be.
Farm living is the life for me......................................

The way we afforded satellite was by dumping our landline (we only ever got sales calls on it anyway) and dropping another service we had, so we are actually saving 10 bucks a month. Out here it's dialup or satellite, nothing else available. But like you said tx, it's worth it to be out in the sticks.

TX I agree. Every time I drive past an apartment bldg I wonder how I ever lived in one. Now I have thirty acres and wish I could buy the neighbors 50.
Thistle... I thought about it but satellite companies will not install it for internet alone. You have to bundle it with television. Being the stubborn old geezer that I am :old I swore I would NEVER pay to watch television. Bad enough the C*** they feed me. Much less I pay them to feed it to me. All I ever watch anymore is the news (more C***) or PBS. I really like "Create" and I can get that with an antennae.

Hmmm... well out here we have satellite for internet only. Like you, there's no way I'm paying for t.v. DH keeps threatening to haul the set out to the woods and shooting it
