Love at first site when I saw a photo of a tri colored beech. Reading about them there where many neg things. They lose their color with age and leaves sunburn easy. does anyone here have one?

Sounds like you've already heard the cautions NYboy, so I'll just reinforce a few things that you have probably already read.

Definitely not a sun tree. Morning sun would be fine, but this is an understory tree and the leaves will burn if it gets full sun all day.

Also, you have to use the greatest care when transplanting beeches. They resent much root disturbance, and will sulk, or sometimes die if they get too much handling when planting.

Super pretty trees though, in the right location.

I have had plans for a tri-colored beech. I love the look of those trees. Thanks for the info. It's good to know I need to plant one in a bit of shade.

I have a tri-colored maple - Eskimo Sunset - that has green, white, and pink coloring on each leaf. Still pretty much a baby, but I have high hopes for her.

Love and good to be back, Smart Red

Some of the Japanese Maples might be an alternative to consider.
