I got some seeds from an ebay seller who lives in PA. I'm thinking if they grow them there, these should do fine here in KY. I googled it, and found out that it is hardy to zone 7b (whatever the 'b' means), and I am in zone 6. Is there anything special that I will need to do with them in the winter?

I wouldn't say I am a grower of Pomegranates, but I do have a minature tree/bush in a pot that is two years old now. And it is barely 7 inches tall!! But it has lots of fruit on it, well, "lots" being about 8 fruits!! I will go get a photo of it.... I'll put it in here in a minute or two...

I have seen tmany trees here in Tucson, Phoenix, Israel, California, Texas. They like heat for sure. I am not sure how they deal with extended cold weater.

As far as I can tell they are rather slow growing, and don't get all that big. If you pot it, it can be moved inside when it gets too cold. They do go dormant in the winter here. Except my little one stayed green all year with fruit on it!! I put in inside when it was "frosty" at night.

The photo is a bit dark, cuz it is night time right now.

I have never tried to grow a Pomegranate tree from one of the seeds, I suppose if you wait years you may have a tree the produces fruit. They are common plants in our local nurseries. I may now try to grow a seed and see what happens.

The b means you are slightly warmer than regular 7.
Are you sure this person said this plant was actually hardy in Pa. ? The best you can do zone wise here in Pa. is 6 and that's pushing it! I've never known anyone who grew pomegrantites outside here.

I also have a pomegranate tree. I'm in zone 8b so I guess that doesn't help you much! Mine bears a lot of large fruit each year - I don't use the fruit for anything, but I will break some open and give it to the chickens now and again.

I actually didn't ask, I just assumed since they had them, that they had grown them. All of their other seeds stated they were from their own plants.

A friend of mine here in KY said they have one growing in their yard, so maybe they can tolerate it? It doesn't get that cold here, and when it does it doesn't stay cold. I guess I'll have to try it and see.
