One of my Asiatic or Oriental lilies appears to have suddenly dried up at the end, 4-5" worth of stem. I think the sprinkler wasn't getting enough water to it.

It has never done well in its location, so I think I need to move it.

The question is, can I move it now, or should I wait until later in the season, or does it matter? It is to be 100 degrees F here today.

When I watered it, it perked up a bit, and I think it's still alive, but it is not happy in its location and never has been, and it will not bloom this year. I was thinking of putting it in a pot of very good soil for the rest of the summer and then transplanting it directly in the ground in the early fall?

I think it would be best to wait until it's dormant or until the weather cools down. Transplanting during harsh conditions can severely damage the plant or even kill it.

I think that is probably wise advice. I'll just keep it watered and let the foliage die back naturally, since it is already stressed, and then replant it in the fall, perhaps.
