So has anyone used it as a rooting compound on new planted plants? I used a rooting compound on soybeans last year and it made a huge difference. I've been reading that aspirin as some of the same aspects..........so has any experience with it?

Been doing some research on aspirin. So has anyone actually used it?

Contaced U of Rhode Island and they had no idea what I was talking about.

So I'm looking for any information on the use of aspirin on plants. Any leads you can give me would be appreciated--yes, I did go to other thread as well.

No, I haven't tried it. I did make some willow tea (supposed to be chemically similar) but I won't know right away if the plants are rooting for me and I didn't have a control (plants I'm trying to root that I didn't use the willow tea on).

I would say experiment with it . . . it is fairly cheap and probably won't have any negative effects.

how did you make willow tea? How much did you use? Wish you would have left control group.

Well, I wish I had too, but I was sort of rushed when I decided to make the cuttings and they are all in the same pot together, so I really didn't have a choice. Next time I try this I will do it less slap-dash.

There was a thread that talked about making the willow tea . . . yeah, I can't remember where it was. Basically I cut up about 2 cups worth of chopstick sized willow twigs (leaves included) -- I cut the twigs into about 2" segments. Then I added them to a gallon of boiling water. I let it sit overnight and then refrigerated it until I could use it. It looked like tea, so if you do this label it as not potable. :p

I watered my cuttings and poured the rest on a poor old sickly lilac bush I have, but only on the roots as I didn't have a sprayer handy.

I will probably do this again, it just isn't a huge priority right now. :/

I hope you decide to experiment with aspirin and let us know what you think!

there will be about 5-10 trials on aspirin. I may even go to the effort of doing it w/willow branches. We're going to spray it on soybeans to see what happens.
