Started my 2021 garden several days before we got hit by an ice storm and feeezing temperatures. I planted mustard greens, turnips and English peas. Couple days we got 7” of snow and more miserable freezing weather. Temperatures went all the way down to -4 here and have stayed in the teens and single digits. We have reached the low 20’s a few times. We got 3” more of ice and snow last night.

Texas has seen rolling blackouts, power outages and frozen water pipes. Many multiple vehicle wrecks, there was a 133 car pile up in Fort Worth that killed 6 people.

It has been bad.
Sitting here kinda bored, thought I’d post some garden pictures for y’all to enjoy.

This is two rows of mustard greens.

So, what do y’all think? Reckon the seeds will just rot or miraculously sprout and come up? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

A fortune cookie told me, I see replanting in your future. LOL LOL

:hugs eh, what's a little bit of snow and ice? :) cold, last night it was -8F, tonight forecast to be 7F.

by next Tuesday they have the forecast to be up to 39F, imagine what it will be like down there if that warm up here? besides a mess... :)

hang in there.

always remember diversity in planting can also mean some diversity in time of plantings too. :)

Started peppers, onions, cabbage, kale, some herbs, and lettuce so far. Replanted the cabbage in individual containers last night. Will do the onions and peppers in a couple days. Had to set up my "greenhouse" in my bedroom on a table since my actual greenhouse is in a tote right now.
Neighbor will hopefully come to till the garden up next month so I can plant the cool weather starts. This year Im using row covers to keep the weeds down. Trying something new.

Oh, man, how are you doing? I hope you are not part of the massive power outage. Stay safe.

Are those hog panels being used as a trellis for the veggies? Seems like a trellis you'd only have to get once as well as a trellis that would keep goats out of the garden?
Those are cow panels spaced 18" apart for tomatoes. I just leave them up and plant tomatoes there every year. I got the idea from @Ridgerunner. I put up 3 panels for double rows. I have a double row trellis 32' long and a double row trellis 16' long. It sure beats trying to stake the tomatoes, especially since I plant heritage tomatoes and they get 12 feet tall!

First of all, I snorted some of my coffee just now when I scrolled down to the garden pics. Very very funny. Made my day for a bit.

Then I died and went to heaven at the adorableness of Reject.

Edited to add: do you think my HOA would notice Reject if I kept him here as a large breed pet?
Glad to give you a laugh, welcome to my world of lambs! I also have Tiny in the house, a triplet that was too small and weak to nurse. I was welcomed one morning by TWO sets of triplets. Reject's mommy absolutely refused to take him. Tiny's mommy wanted her, but her mouth was so small, she couldn't suck the milk filled teat. Both were cold. I rigged up a bottom of a dog house, put in a heating pad, covered it with towels, put in a hair dryer and put a towel over the top, making a warming tent. I got them both nice and cozy, then had to tie the ewes for the babies to suck. If they dont get the colostrum within a very narrow window of time, they die. I spent the day going from ewe to ewe, baby to baby, sprawled out in the hay, making sure each baby got their colostrum. Then I brought them in the house and bottle fed them.

For a whole lot of cuteness, my lambing thread.
