Best time to plant apple trees?

We are going to plant 3 apple trees in our yard. Just wondering when is the best time to plant them, are we to late already, or does it matter?

Now is fine. They always say to dig a $20 hole for a $2 tree. Water often until established.

As long as you can water to them- now is fine. I have done both spring and fall, and don't see much of a difference...

Collector, I've planted trees in all three seasons and with attention they all have done wonderfully. Now is the time for best selection, fall is the time for deep discounts.
Like Cat said, keep them well watered.
