Very nice photo!

We don't have those on this side of the country :(. I'm immediately thinking of our Evening Grosbeaks and Red Crossbills but I guess your bird is more closely related to our Western Tanagers.

I once had a pair of Crossbills that would follow me on a garden path as I picked off cabbage worms in the garden. It was a very unsuccessful effort but I made friends ;)!

I've seen the Tanager in trees and reflected in waters of little alpine lakes. So pretty!

Aren't they gorgeous? We get them at the feeder up in Maine, but I've never had one down here - although I hear them.

Oh, aren't they wonderful. I saw one a few times at my feeders this weekend. They liked the sunflower seeds, but also the suet... I have not seen them since, so I am thinking they were just passing by. Lucky you, you had your camera near by!

We have an apple tree right under our bedroom window. It is frequented by Bluebirds, and right now some Blatimore Orioles...my coworker tells me to put out grape jelly to attract Orioles?

Only one year a Grosbeak visit my feeder. I was so excited!!
This year an Orchard Oriole was in my backyard with females flying around. I ran out the next day to buy a feeder and never saw them again :(

I haven't heard that, but then again, I don't think we have them here. If you do decide to do that, make sure it's organic grape jelly. Preservatives and sugars are so bad for birds. Or maybe you could just go with grapes? ;)
