Everywhere you look... here as well as many other sites / social media, everyone wishes someone a Happy Birthday. That is GREAT !!! But ... several years ago our and all of our neighbors had all of our mail stolen out of our cluster mail boxes by theives . Soon , 2 of our neighbors received credit card bills into the thousands of $$$s. The Postmaster General did an investigation and found that since the theives got our name, address, credit card bills, and the 2 that got birthday cards in their mail got credit card bills. All the theives needed to get a new credit card was what was stolen. The theives can very easily put 2 + 2 together with their stolen information , then get stolen internet IDs / place of imployment / school records information to get brithday and SS number information and YOU get stuck with paying the bill. He advised all of us to never give out our Social Security number or our birthday to anyone over the internet , also, to never sign the back of any of our credit cards . My wife , kids and I got ID protection plan ( as advertised on TV ) to stop any ID theft so now we get monthy activity reports. So far , so good.

At my Mother's exclusive Townhome complex a few years ago, thieves cut down one of those metal multi compartment mail boxes. They hauled it away. Wonder what they found and if anyone had any problems with ID theft?

btw: the UPSP charged each homeowner a percentage of the replacement box and it took them almost 5 months to replace it. In the meantime, all these people had to go to the local Post office to pick up their mail.

so lucky

Now that just doesn't seem right!

I never fill in my birthday on sites. If I just have to, I make one up. I joined TEG before it was necessary to fill in a birthday.
