it's been quite a sharp learning curve for me with my goat. I've been giving her antibiotic shots once a day. she's been barely able to move so I've been cutting oak leaves, briars & such to give her. I've carried water to her. her leg has been so swollen. I put Vaseline on it the first day thinking it would keep dirt out & keep flies out of the wounds. then I read that I was setting her up to have abscesses.

she has gradually begun to move around & venture from their barn. she would lay in the shade in the woods. I would bring her water & forage from time to time. today, she has done much better. she has walked quite a bit. her leg is still very swollen, but her pain seems to be diminishing. tonight when I gave them their bit of grain for the night, she bellied up to the feeder with the others. I was so happy to see her do this. yesterday I wasn't sure she would live. I know things can still go wrong - but we are on the path to recovery. i'm not 100% sure she will be able to have kids after this. we will see if the swelling goes away. my dog didn't get her little udder at least.

the positive out of this is I got acquainted with the vet clinic I will be using for the goats. I had been meaning to & things had gone so well, I procrastinated. they know goats very well & will be a great clinic. i'm learning how to give goats shots - it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

:clap
