Had a better harvest of them then my Russets. Go figure.

For the area planted I was just amazed how many I got so my question is what is the process for saving some for next year? These were from good stock from a nursery.

Hi Greg R, First of all :welcome

Congratulations on your great crop -- I can understand that you would want to save some for next year but there are some dangers to doing this so you must be very careful. Here are a few pages that might help. There are many opinions as to whether it is a good idea to save your own stock because of the ease of spreading disease.

My purple & blue ones always do consistently well in all kinds of weather. I always get them as one of my "if everything else fails, at least I'll have..." plants.

If they look healthy and you didn't get hit with fungus/blight, sure, why not save them? I found out this year that purple potatoes, if overwintered, will get freakin' HUGE. As in, "why is there a giant rock in my potato bed...oh, wow!" HUGE.

My all blues, reds and peruvian purples did very well.
The fingerlings are my favorite though and I planted a couple of kinds, the la rattes did the best of those.
