I wasn't sure I could do it, Journey! These 80+ day varieties . . . I don't know, risky .
This one, I've looked at for 2 weeks, I guess it is. It wasn't red when I brought it in from the garden. However! There were a couple that ripened on the vine - and, I enjoyed one of those already! I don't remember anyone ever saying how tender the skins on these things are. Delicious and I hope this 9 ouncer hasn't lost some of that flavor during its long ripening .
You will notice it isn't the "Pink" Brandywine. And, I guess, it is supposed to be "Brandywine OTV" instead of the other way around. As I understand it - the parent plant was a Yellow Brandywine and it was named for a newsletter edited by a gardener who found it in his/her garden. OTV = Off the Vine. I was told that it is a little earlier than its Brandywine relatives.
I sampled a slice - it still had a nice flavor, remarkably so! Still had that tender skin. I put some of the other slices on whole grain toast with just a little Best Foods mayo. Very, very good.
I am looking forward to growing this one again in 2014. Hey, I am somebody who can grow a Brandywine tomato!

Glad you finally found a brandywine that would work for you. I think brandywines are probably the most tender and juicy tomato I've ever had...although I've barely put a dent in sampling the tomato spectrum. So many tomatoes...so little garden space!
This is the guy who developed your Brandywine OTV. I understand that Carolyn Male did some of the final selecting and increases. Thank you for reminding me Digit. I had not looked at nctomatoman's website in years.
Box Car Willy was in my garden once - committed several square feet! There was something about them being very productive (& not especially late). Those plants produced 1 ripe tomato right down in the middle of the plants by the end of the season .
