I have about 16 to 20 empty squares in my garden. I would like to amend the soil before planting broccoli and cabbage. I will be using some horse manure and chicken compost with peat moss. Can I put the seeds in that day or do I need to wait for it to settle in. My horse manure is not necessarily composted. I try not to get the fresh but the broken down "dirt" under the fresh. I put it in some new squash plants and it seemed to cause them to yellow. They are doing fine now, but for a while I was worried I had burned them.

I would go real easy with anything that is not composted. Maybe you could plant and then side dress when everything is up and looking healthy??

Just to make sure I understand.....

don't use it on seedlings but I can side dress (work in on sides of plant) on established plants?
