I never cut the stalks down last year and now I am getting new growth at the base. One that was tiny last fall that I just ignored completely over wintered and is doing great!

Since last year was the first time I ever tried growing these things, I didn't know what to expect. As these new plants going to be any good?

I can't see why not.. in my zone 4ish that wouldn't happen- but it did in yours! Seems like you should be able to harvest in very early summer. I won't harvest my new plants until October! I would try a few, as soon as they look viable, just in case they are tough, or something... so you don't waste garden space. Enjoy!

I have no advice, but I wish I were getting at least some sprouts. My plants grew well and the sprouts started to form, but they haven't gotten big enough to harvest. Some of them started to flower while they were still the size of a small grape and the rest just haven't gotten any bigger.

Potter, they are really a cool weather crop. Maybe your temps have been too warm?? When did you plant them?

Yep, that's what I am assuming. I planted from started plants sometime in early January I believe. I had planned on putting them in a bit earlier, but it didn't happen.

Nice! If you're getting them to regrow where you are, I wonder if they would do so here. We have to grow ours through the winter in Arizona because it's too hot in the summer.
