well with the weather getting colder by the hour decided to harvest two stocks of spouts to go a long with a oven roasted rosemary chicken.

those where better then the green giants....
since they were small sauted them in butter, garlic and some shallots.. dang shame it took forever to grow, but it is worth the wait. have 6 more stocks out there, but we are undecided weather we grow them again

and a little garden humor

OH! How wonderful! That is one beautiful, delicious looking plant. I'm drooling just looking at the photo. That's one plant I've never been successful with. Of course, back when I first tried it I didn't know where the sprouts were supposed to grow and I probably tossed it as a bust way too early.

Nice healthy, productive plant, Major'.

I never could go 'em. Mom was always giving us stuff of every sort to eat. Couldn't leave the table until . . . it would finally come down to "two bites!" The "damn it" was left unsaid.

Of course, Mom always overcooked e v e r y t h i n g! And, take that a half-step further and it was burned. Burned Brussels sprouts!!!! I think she took after the English side of her family, at times ;).

Even today, well-brought-up English girls are taught by their mothers to boil all veggies for at least a month and a half, just in case one of the dinner guests turns up without his teeth. ~ Calvin Trillin

I saw a recipe (can't remember where, sorry) for roasted Brussels sprouts with walnuts and grapes, I think. They were kind of browned/caramelized on top from roasting, and looked very appetizing. Probably had olive oil and some herbs.

Ha!

I see that TEG software automatically changed Mom's "d**n it" to something else.

Shucks, even what she left "unsaid" is censored ;).
